The use of solar energy can be expensive, and it’s efficiency is determined by the purity grade of the silicon used. It is for this reason that the recycling of raw material silicon is necessary.

For the renewed use of residues from silicon production, special systems for the detection of contamination are used. In further process steps, airblast technology is used to clean the material so that it can be re-melted and reused as pure silicon.

Manual blast cleaning can be time and cost intensive, therefore an automated process is recommended. A very high product purity is necessary in this process and so the blast media must also be silicon.
